Leadership

Steve Wehrenberg
Steve Wehrenberg
Chief Executive Officer

Steve began his near 30 year advertising career as a copywriter, which explains his astute instincts in marketing communications. From copywriting, Steve transitioned to account and strategic account leadership positions in most every product category out there. He rose through the ranks and landed the job of Campbell Mithun Chief Executive Officer in 2006.

Steve has been a catalyst in the creation and refinement of key CM proprietary strategic tools. CM’s Strategic Architecture mapping helps clients prioritize strengths and define a path to success, even in the most complex of businesses. Steve also helped pioneer our Brand Zealotry model and Brand Conversion research tools to help CM give clients unique insights into what motivates their customers. All to relentlessly drive sales and growth. Steve was a major influence behind one of Campbell Mithun’s most successful campaigns, H&R Block’s “You Got People.” It was named best brand insight of 2007 by Ad Age, received the 2008 AAAA Jay Chiat Account Planning Award and has gotten accolades throughout the industry.

In addition to running CM, Steve teaches a strategy course in the University of Minnesota’s Master’s Program in Strategic Communications.   He has co-written a new edition of The Successful Marketing Plan with former Famous Footwear client Scott Cooper, to be published summer 2011.  And he serves on the board of the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
